The Puamun (which means “dream” in Innu) project enables Centre d’amitié autochtone de Québec to offer professional services to students in difficulty and their parents to accelerate the learning disability evaluation process for these students. Thanks to a partnership with the FORSE remedial clinic, students can benefit earlier from the services of education professionals such as occupational therapists, remedial teachers, neuropsychologists, or psychologists. The evaluations help the staff at Centre d’amitié autochtone de Québec establish intervention plans related to the diagnoses and reassure students experiencing academic difficulties. Parents also have an opportunity to attend workshops that help them support their children in their academic learning.
