Wabannutao Eeyou School wanted to focus on developing leadership and promoting physical activity to support elementary and secondary school students by setting up the “Empowering Students – Engaging Students” project. First, secondary school students attended leadership workshops and sports promotion activities. They also received youth facilitator training and took part in awareness activities on the effects of smoking, drugs, and alcohol. The students were then invited to facilitate awareness workshops on these same themes themselves to empower elementary school students. This project builds self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and pride in students through mentoring and leadership, enabling them to make a positive contribution to their school environment.
